Several Asian aros in one tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you need 6 aros or more to make it work

also start them off in a smaller tank say 4x2x2 if you give them to much space their will be war as they all take territorys

move them to the bigger tank when they get to 12inch

you will have to keep them very well fed to stop fighting more food = more waste the 2 x FX5 wont even male a dent on the bioload

dont waste your time with power heads use internal filters you will need every bit of filteration you can get even if you go sump an internal filter polishes the water great

i have had my aro com now for 3 months and its very carm and easy :D

Freke consistent mean you set up a daily routine of feeding the aros at set times and usually for what you are getting from panda probable size best would be around 6" or more. Twice a day feeding would be fine. I am keeping mine of 6 RGT at the moment and feed twice a day meal worms gut loaded with carrots and fish pellets. Water monitoring at the initial stages for ammonia, nitrite is also important. It took my tank about 5 weeks to reach an ok state with zero readings.

And in between regular water changes about 30% weekly.

And another thing with more than one arowana in the tank there will come a time when they start jostling each other for the space in the tank. My have already started and looks like 5 being chased by 1 around the tank.

This is what it looks like in a 50g tank b4 being transfered.

If you plan to sell them you may have to keep them in individual tanks when this starts.

Good luck with your new aros.

I think this is what you mean when they get nasty on each other for more food and space.

Look at the arowana bottom fin on the lower right. Fin Break right there.

to be truthfull a aro com is easy i had a few dropped scales a split fins but nothing to say i need to put in a diveder

you need to pack them in thats the key to a aro com

6 aros i would say is the min

my tank is 84 long x 32 wide x 30 deep and i have 6 aros in that along with other fish

this is why im saying a smaller tank to start would be better then they would still be packed in and moved to the bigger tank as they grow

i started of with 6 x 8inch aros in my tank size stated about and it was fine but maybe i was lucky

as for feeding i always feed my aros twice per day until they reach 12inch even if i only had 1 aro i would do this

i had never done aro com before this as i was also scared of fighting and not haveing another tank to put the aros in

6 aros is the key the aggression is spred well with 6 you also have to have a strong heart and not panic when you see a few fights and splits fins and dropped scales just let them get on with it and only remove an aro if its beat up real bad or near death

if you keep removing aros and put in partionss it will upset the whole balance of the com buy takeing out the aplha

the aros will also grow at diffrent sizes i also have a runt thats smaller than the rest even thow it gets plenty of food

i feed alot 100 giant meal worms per day now but it was 60 twice per day so make sure you have very good filteration i also do 2 x 25% water changes per week

So should i put them in a 100g for a while untill they reach like 10" Im not planing to sell these. This will be a show tank. But rest of the aro will be sold but they will be keept one on one so i got right ID for right fish for the new owner ;) Thx for the pic Aw720 thats what i ment. You keep urs in one tank then move to bigger. I will feed them 2 or 3times a day just as ive been doin to my jars i had before Morning, mid day, evening, Normaly use jumbo shrimps and Aro pellets.

T1Karmann great idea to mix other fish in with all the aros. Which fish did you mix in. I am thinking of using the nile tilapia as they are also quite capable of defending them selves. any clues? cheers Aw7

tiger/dats flagtail/FF rays tigrinus cat all are fine with the aros

i like to pack my tank then it cuts down the aggresion with the aro i will probably have to remove some fish as the aro grow but right now it works well
