T1Karmann great idea to mix other fish in with all the aros. Which fish did you mix in. I am thinking of using the nile tilapia as they are also quite capable of defending them selves. any clues? cheers Aw7
bichirs :)

ok T1 & Plausible. Will look around my area to see what i ve got. Koi plenty around here but i think they will become fodder instead...

Agree with you. With my 6 average sized 10" arowana i am using a canister filter 30Watt Pump running thrugh a diy filter without any issues. Ammonia test - zero, nitrites - zero. however the setup took 5 week to estabish it self. i think the most important part which helps to keep the waste problem down is not too over feed the arowana. I put about 3 tablespoons of meal worms for feeding once in the morning and once in the evening.

Once a week instead of mealworms i feed feeder fish which has been quarantined in a separated tank. BTW when i got the 6 fish from the farm they were infested with anchor worms and that too about a week to clear up with medication. Till today no other bugs or problems is visible. I still maintain a basic dose during each 30% water change as a precaution.

Am trying a new thing for the arowana spacing with other fish as well as a divider. Later will post a few pics to show you what i am using for this tank.

But is it harder to keep asians then silver, jars?? Are they more sensetive about the water?? Never had any diseases before on my fishes. Got my first last week on my RBP i lost one but i think its becouse they eat half of him lol and not from the disease. They got like skin falling off, like we get after we heen sunbathing in 10h =)

BTW thanks for bring this one up on the threads as got quite a numbe of ideas from the other posters suggestions and hints. The following are some which i am trying out at the moment. and also heres. a link to another thread on how they mix in a pond with 6 Red Arrows and a XB.

Pic one the grow out Tank with DIY Filter Sump. This Tank was done by ordering 12mm glass with polished edges from a local glass supplier. Glued the entired tank over a week end with the help of a few friends. There is another larger tank on top of this one. However that will be done at a later stage.

Pic One &Two. The small canister filter with 30 watts pump plumbed in line with the DIY Filter and Sump. The Sump are aerated with 4 air lines to encourage benificial bacteria to grow in the Jap Mat.The middle section are buffered with broken coral. A few guppies, Jewel Cichlid are added to take care of any mosquitoes larvae or leftovers. The net is to keep mosquitoes out.

Pic One and Three: The Divider in the Tank - White
You can see one of the arowana going through the divider passage on the bottom right corner. They get smart on this very fast after only a day. They will come over here to be fed and then zoom thru to the other side. The tank is 32 inch wide and the divider cuts that in appox half

This is what i use for the divider. Advertising Signs Boards. Got them from the local agency. Used condition. Cut them up and then it goes in the tank. easy attachment with the silicons suction cups from the local fish shop.
