Severe Impaction: This is why you should not use sand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you know,it just seems crazy to me,I know Ive seen x rays of proof of this happening but I just dont see how it happens to a healthy herp.If it can pass bits and pieces of exoskeleton, bones, teeth, fur, and such how in the hell do little grains of sand not just go right through too?A big frog can eat a mouse fine but they say a wet piece of flimsy little moss can build up and kill it.IDK.

Your ignorance makes me giggle.

uhhh excuse me?

You don't think that behavioral enrichment is important for captive animals? Or you think that the zoos of the past were known for the quality of life they provided for their animals?

Please back up your comment. And no an emoticon is not back up.

The fact that zoos back in the day kept their animals in cages that were WAY too small for the animal to begin with. Also keeping a leopard gecko on paper towel/tile/carpet isn't really eliminating one of their keys to survival habits like digging. Unline the Bearded Dragon, Leos don't need to dig for survival. As it was mentioned earlier Beardeds dig in the sand to thermoregulate, escape predators, etc. Leos live in rock crevases so digging isn't always necessary. Comparing us keeping our geckos on paper towel/tile/carpet to zoos keeping their animals on concrete is ridiculous.

Guys this is a family oriented forum so unfortunatley bad language derogatory links on websites will be deleted, if you have issues with this; there are various adult forums where you can participate with the aforementioned activity.
