Thanks for posting kewlguy! What do you have them with(other than the satanoperca) and how are they toward each other?

I have 2 of them with 2 Daemons. They are only food aggressive to each other.

Without food, they are fine. going to move them down with my hoplarchus and orange heads when they gain a little weight.

HHMMMM, just got the D.L. on the brazil shipment going to Rapps. He is getting some Heros efasciatus in tomorrow morning. Along with some other VERY NICE Brazilian natives:naughty:

Anywho, what you guys think of Heros efasciatus compared to the others on the pole????

You find me one and I'll for sure get it!!!!

Only time I ever seen them for sale was a few months back when Rapps put up John O'Malley's fish for sale after he passed away.

bump:D

Titus my man, guess what im picking up on my tomorrow morning ;)

1000 mile round trip for a pair of H. Notatus... if they are indeed Notatus. REALLY HAVING DOUBTS, especially now, since i've just ask about their markings, and apparently, they dont show any black on the flanks.

I'd personally go for Inirida from your list. I'm yet to see and adult male.

As for the efasciatus, they are the same species as appendiculatus. Good one to watch out for.

Officially, there are only 2 members of the heros family. H. efasciatus and H. Severus.

Everything else, for the time being, is a regional mutation ;) Remember that when paying.

efasciatus = appendiculatus = notatus (sometimes, as it has come to describe a regional variant, which is highly sort after )

All names used to describe the same fish.

I'm sure Jeff himself will burst from his fish house and prove me MASSIVELY wrong, but thats how i understand it from teachings from fellow Sev HEads in england.

Best of luck
Craggy

Thanks Craig! I hope it does turn out to be a Notatus for ya!!! Post pics if you get em!!!!

Well, I've gathered this much, or just assumption on my part......

the majority says get the Rotkeil, but from my slim research of them they seem to be the most aggressive of them all???

I'd say rotkeil definitely, based on the Rapps F1 rotkeils I have seen. They are gorgeous. I hadn't heard they were more aggressive than other types of sevs generally, but I've not kept rotkeils myself. With sevs, my experience has been some are very peaceful and others are very aggressive, varying by individual more so than species.
