at first glance i would say FEMALE. however the freckles running down the body would indicate MALE. hehehe tough one but only time will tell.....

My female had speckles on the face so you can't really judge by that. I have a feeling it will be like my female was, venting will be the only sure way of telling.

The speckles throw me off. But it looks like it is starting to get the adult male pattern. Males have 14 rows or lines of black speckles throughout the body. I dont see any blue coloring in the fins yet either. Tough one.

I see some blue in the fins, but it also looks like he's using the flash which drowns out the blue coloration for some reason.

This was my problem Dovii, the first pic was at 3.5" the second pic was at about 5".. Notice the freckling and the patterns on the gill, but it turned out to be a female.

I'm going with male. He seems to have some 'male' coloration in the photos which is almost always more prominant in person. My male has a ton of blue, green, and violet coloration, but it hardly shows up all in a pic.
