Sex my Dovii?

I'm leaning towards Male...... (?)

I'm going to lean with you towards male...but you never know could lay eggs and fool us all!!

they are still small....and my females fins point.
Adolescents also round.

hey man i've been looking at recent and past photo's of my mates female dovii and i'm thinking that yours could be a female like mudfrog said. he reckons that they looked very similar to each other when they were the same size except his didn't have the black 'freckles' above the main bold line
he thought it was a male too for ages because it was quite colourful and aggresive from a young age.

The freckles above the lateral line are usually a male characteristic...that could be why your friends female didnt have them. I really think this one is a male. Like Big Dovii said though...."it could lay eggs and fool us".

Thats a tough one. I have been fooled three times already, I thought I had males and then the eggs came. I think I finally have a male this time.

The freckles above the lateral line are usually a male characteristic...that could be why your friends female didnt have them. I really think this one is a male. Like Big Dovii said though...."it could lay eggs and fool us".

Not always.. my female had freckles above the lateral line but they were a dark bronze color instead of black. All Dovii have freckles when small as well, even black freckles.

Here is the female I posted earlier, see the bronze spots all over the place above the lateral line, I swore it was a male until she laid eggs.. She was around 5" or so in this pic. She was the best looking female I've ever seen. I miss her dearly
