Thanks for your advice guess we will just keep trying maybe more water changes. It is nice to see a thread on these fish can't believe more people don't have them. When ever someone sees ours they seem to want them maybe their end size is their downfall.

Here's an adult male I have, pics are a bit dusty, but the high, bulbous, profile of an alpha male is very evident.

females seem fairly passive to me, males on the other hand can be rough, although they can be a bit sedentary.
