No problem, didn't mean to upset you. Just calling it how i see it, very low quality IMO...Seems to be alot of people here with attitudes. To each his own I guess. Also please post a pic of a female RD at only 3.5" with that type of hump and finnage, now that statement you made is the BS...

:iagree:

I don't recall saying I've had them with the same shape as your FH, at the same size :)

Point is here, appearances with many large CA's can often be deceiving. I'm simply saying don't be so quick to sex a fish by things like long fins.

You have no point really because now your are going back on your original statement. The fish we are trying to determine possible sex on is LargeCichlids devil which is about the same size if not slightly larger then the FH I posted and thats why i was using it in reference to try to explain to you what i was talking about. When you posted your FH you were using it as an example on how long pointy fins mean nothing to determine sex but your wrong and using your FH is a meaningless example for which i explained why earlier. A full size adult RD looking similar to my 3.5" FH AS YOU ARE NOW STATING just proves my point on how different FH's are from RD's in which is why I was telling you your FH being used in comparison is meaningless. So the real point here is that LargeCichlid since you have a RD not a FH the longer pointy upper and lower fins at the age in which your RD is makes it lean heavily as a male.:)

if the fish has been solo....
the fins on that particular rd could easily pass as a female.
i can't use fh as an example but i can vouch for solo gt, fm, and convict females as being able to grow some decent fins.

get a focused pic of the vent, use a flash - something. nothing but debate til then..

Interesting.....I've never seen a GT female at a young age 3-5" display longer pointy fins, please post a pic. And FireMouths and Convicts are irrelevant for the fact that when they get the longer strands as female's they have already hit adulthood. Those fish max out in most cases at only 4-5" and its usually around this size that they display the nice finnage. But a 4-5" RD is still very young not even near adulthood or size (10-12" Female's, 12"-14" Males) so a female at adult size could display nice finnage but extremly rare for a female juvenile RD to display the pointy longer fins that LargeCichlids RD is displaying. So once again another argument that doesn't apply to these circumstances. I'm not saying there haven't been cases of female RD's at this young age to display nice finnage there are always exceptions but its very rare. But in most cases a large percent of male RD's dispay the longer(pointy) fins at this young age.

Humor me here...is there anyone's opinion, besides your own of course, that you aren't going to say is wrong? :)

Well if someone can bring a comparison or example thats related to RD'S and not other species of fish then maybe so but until then this subject will obviously be simply over your head so please refrain from bringing your ignorance into this subject.;)
