i honestly dont know. I phoned the guy selling the jag and he says its female. No idea about my one (the first set of photos), most saying female though, and I thought it was female too
If the guy knows his stuff and vented the jag and he comes up with female then female is probably what it is.... venting is 100% looking is just a quess...

well i dont know how clued up he is on that, i myself dont know how to vent. Im not going to get it though he wants £30 for it which is way too much for a jag.

this is how you vent cichlids ...

the anus at the top in this pic right? so the females bits are wider, and the males stick out more?

nice use of pics thanks
iv actually read about how to vent but on the fish they all look the same to me. some of them are sticking out more than others so they're probably male and the others female. apparantly if u squeeze their abdomen some fluid comes out if its male or female..cant remember which

usually its pretty easy for me to see as long as there is good lighting, males holes will be roughly the same size while the female will have one large and one small hole in red devil's picture i would have actually thought the "male" pic was female because they are different sizes... but if you take your fish all the way out and look at them it should be pretty clear (if they are larger of course the smaller the fish the harder it is to tell, takes more experience to be able to tell on really small fish)

theyr a bloody nightmare to catch due to all the rocks/wood, and im not that bothered about it to take all the decor out lol

only other way to find out sex is by watching it breed

mmm....fish porn:popcorn:lol

this happens to me alot.. i certainly do not want a fish harmed just to find out the sex.. sometimes just kneeling down and looking up and waiting for the right moment you can take a photo and vent it..

yeah i normally do venting when im either needing to move the fish anyways or am doing a water change so i just go ahead and take out the driftwood and lower the water really low (take out about 75%) so that i can catch them quickly and with less stress, but yeah the being patient and waiting for the right time to take a pic works too if you have a semi-decent camera and TONS of patience lol but i definitely dont haha

thats wat i have to do, i just have a pile of rocks/wood lying on the floor, drop the water low, then section it off using a plastic folder so the area to catch them is really small. Then u gota get the aquascape sorted again. So to catch one fish it takes like an hour...mission. i've been tempted to try using bait, but any of the fish could go for it not the one u want
