This is my biggest grow out @ 5 months old and somewhere between 4 and 5 inches...i think male because the pointed genital papillae can be seen when you zoom in on the first pic...want to see what others think.....

shape and belly pattern says male. females spots not go that low.

Picture 025.jpgi think youve got a male there. Within the next inch or two those spots will either completely change or not and you will know for sure. If that was a female she would actually arlready be big enough to breed. This was my pair back in the day, my male being on the bottom, females bars will stay while the males pattern will lighten a little, but interesting enough as they get larger males will change again.

If it's your biggest grow out of the group I'd definitely say male. I've picked my old male dovii and my male jags this way before they were big enough to definitely tell.

Male IMO also

Thanks everyone for the confirmation...
As far back as .75 of an inch I was going from the standard of this one being a male based solely on its superiority of size... however at the four month mark i began to have doubts....I saw then what I though was a female vent.. now at the five month mark his vent looks definitely male...and he is looking more male evey day...

It does look male. But everyones dealt with a shocker before. Being the larger size and individual look this one has, if this was mine id assume its a male. The good thing right now is at this size with a good appettite his growth will sky rocket. I love the blues he has in the fins. Hell be a stunner.
