Agree, and the females tend to become darker faster as spawning approaches. The one with the black lower lip, and black lines to the eyes looks female. The black lower lip shows up as an indication of breeding dress

I do 50% water changes every week. It's a bit cloudy now because they keep digging up the substrate. Temp is around 27Clean water and staying out of there way has usually helped with my pairs.

I live in sri lanka. So the temp is always tropical. If I have to cool the tank down, I'll have to add cold water from the fridge. I use water from a well.Do you do a mix of hot and cold water from the tap? My female bifa got into a serious need to breed when I only add cold water tap water to the tank and let the total tank temperature drop by a few degrees.
Give it a go sling in a few 5 ltr bottles worth of cold water and it might just kick her off.I live in sri lanka. So the temp is always tropical. If I have to cool the tank down, I'll have to add cold water from the fridge. I use water from a well.
I'll try that tomorrow. ThanksGive it a go sling in a few 5 ltr bottles worth of cold water and it might just kick her off.
It happens with a lot of fish the drop in temp kicks them onto breeding mode.
Let us know if it has any affect ?I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks
For sure!Let us know if it has any affect ?
Did you try the cold water thing, what's your pH like that can have an effect on breeding. There's still nothing going on. The male has coloured up nicely. Still digging. But no eggs
