I'll jump in here and admit I'm guilty of the "misunderstanding, prickish, demeaning" sort of tone at times, and there really is not an excuse. Dumb question/post or otherwise, new member or not. "Dumb" is subjective/relative in and of itself. (it's a matter of opinion just like "normal").
I tend to get the "attitude" when I see lots of good advice being given, and the original poster seems to "ignore" or otherwise "blow off" this advice. Post count be damned.
I'm no "expert" in anything related to fishkeeping, and don't pretend to be, here, or anywhere else.
I make statements/give advice if I think I have something to offer (well mostly anyway).
Sometimes I misunderstand the original meaning and get S.W.A.T.T.E.D, but I'm not perfect, and will freely admit to that as well.
What gets to me most times is the blatent disreguard of the opinions/advice given.
Why post the question in the first place? newbie or not.
Sometimes it seems to me that there are trolls just trying to cause an issue, and not really caring about the OP, because they already know better. i.e just trying to instigate.
I've been swatted, I've been wrong, I've learned from others, and disagreed with them at the same time. That's the purpose of the forum I think.
My fishkeeping skills and knowledge have increased due to this site, no doubt.
