shame on us

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I too have had questions to ask,but am afraid to because I don't want to get treated like an idiot. I've kept fish off and on all my life. Big deal, I don't know it all. I also tend to forget things. (short term memory lose lol). Good thread.

there are no stupid, noob or idiot questions.... we are all here to learn... just members helping members community... :)

Some of us feel more passionate about our hobby and tend to get aggressive when someone is unintentionally mistreating their beloved animals. So yes, some of us will tend to say things that may make you feel dumb, understand though that we really don't care how YOU feel its how we feel the animal feels.

If only people would take the 10-15 minutes to research before buying...:headshake

you were once new to the hobby have a heart change your attitude what seems dumb to you is important to someone new

I knew I'd get a good example in a reply to my post. This one would fall under the "Lack of Comperhension" category.

peanut, please reveiw the post you quoted on and hi-light exactly were I stated anything about that which is hi-lighted in red. Also punctuation is a handy tool, if used it would be easier to tell if you want my heart changed or my attitude.

I agree with some of whats be said but not with it all, no question is "dumb" for starters, if they don't know the best thing they can do is ask, if you don't ask you don't learn.
The repeat questions can be a pain but a noob using the search will get lost in the number of posts brought up(I have any way) here or on goggle
example: 55 gallon stock: here 534 posts, goggle 47,000 pages and most having nothing to do with stocking a 55 gallon they just have gallon or stock somewhere on the post
Extreme laziness is not always what it is I have asked for opinions as to stocking and min tank size because I wanted others opinions

There are no dumb questions, but some are easily researched. If someone asks for stocking advise on a 55g tank, an African Butterfly fish is suggested. That someone then does not know what a African butterfly is: then just google it and the answer is there, instead of asking "What's an African butterfly fish?"

As for the repeat questions, most have been answered in the exact same thread. There is one thing to not understanding the answer given, but many times the answer is either ignored or not the answer that is wanted.

I can only try to teach you, I can't learn for you.

well I'm sure there are a few on here that feel I've "bashed" them, for that I am sorry. I know that I'm argumentative and I will speak my peace, I tire of the repeat questions, the extreme laziness, lack of comprehension and the lack of gratitude many newbs are guilty of. I enjoy posting here, but unfortunately I'm not gonna change. If any feel they are being bashed, report the post, if a mod agrees then I'll suffer the consequences like a big boy.

Same here. I tend to speak my peice on something I feel strongly about. Just the way my personality is. At the same time you may see me being argumenative about something that I feel differently about but I'm here for the same reason as most of us. Because I love this hobby, this site, the people, the friendships here, and what this site is. And most of all I try to browse topics that either interest me or I feel I might be of some help on answering/providing info where to find an answer.

Yeah some people get to me I admit it. I think everyone has a pet peeve. Ignorance is mine. Not noob questions but flat out looking to cause a problem/not taking advice ignorance. Although few and far between there are such things as trolls, and people just out looking for trouble. Believe me I've been bashed before. Most of us have. It's not fun. But at the same time any person knows what response will create a ruckus, and lead people to believe you're a disrespectful person. I also think the Administration here including Mod's do a great job handling issues.

Problem is with the hobby, about 60-70% of the more experienced ones are up their own asses on forums...

no it's only 50% get it straight!!! I generally try to stick up for people who are getting flamed needlessly unless you are a repeat offender of doing really stupid things. I won't name names on those unless you want to pm me.

However if you're in the lounge being an idiot I consider you fair game to flamed upon mercilessly until your brain grows or you stop posting idiotic statements :p

I do know that the people in Indy on here know a lot about fish but are not stuck up their own asses ;)
