Only got 6 shots off before my camera flash died.

Probably 7-8". I bought him just over 7 months ago at 4-5". Guess that's what happens when he doesn't eat for 6 months...

Here he is a week after I got him.

Currently yes. And therein lies my dilemma. I picked up some H. carpintis to swap him out with because he quit eating again. A week after I get the carpintis he starts eating again. Been eating ever since (so a month now).

The plan was to have the midas be the show piece and nothing else in the tank. But with him not eating and hiding all the time I decided to get rid of him and get the carpintis. Then he starts eating. But if he's eating now that's no guarantee that he'll keep eating if I take out the carpintis...

The largest carpinits is now just to the size where the midas is starting to chase him around, and I can't just swap fish out, I've got to get rid of them as I only have the single tank in this apartment.

So it's either keep the midas and hope he keeps eating (and growing, who know if he's stunted now) or keep the carpintis and get a nice breeding pair (I've got 6 growing out).

Personally I can't stand a finicky picky fish. I'd rather keep a hearty eater that doesn't keep me worrying all the time. This is a hobby and I have enough other worries in my life.
