Shamu - still kickin'

With your photo skills you need a fish with lots of personality. I love the look of this guy though. It sucks he's always been so picky. "A to Z Pets" on Division street has a 10" Vieja Argentea for $30. They think it's a blackbelt lol. I miss seeing pics of your argentea, just sayin :D

Have you talked with Cavamart? He is in your area and into CA's he might have a community to try him out in.

Yeah, James is who I got the carpintis from. He used to be into big bruisers but has scaled back to just deal with the smaller centrals now.

That's a hell of a deal for an argentea. They're usually $10-15 for a 2" fish. I'll have to go check that place out, never been there.

Do you have a community to donate? Because I don't, living in a 3rd story apartment right now. This is my only tank.

.
You did say that this was your only tank. Sorry, wasn't paying attention. Well, maybe a quick Craigslist sale is in order. Your chances of getting a pair of carps are better than good.
Besides, what would make a better show piece? Your vontehillos are gorgeous and, while they may never become glassbangers, the 'controversy' that surrounds them makes for great conversation.

i love my midas cichlids , amphilophus in general for personality and stature , hella deep fish , yours is really nice ....

Either way, he's still an attractive fish. Not sure what I would do in your predicament. If you can find him another home, where he will be cared for correctly, I think the best thing to do is re-home him. Dealing with a problematic fish in a community can be pretty tough.

Best not to dwell on it too long. Whatever decision you make is a good one I believe, and the sooner it's made the better.

I have had finnicky, picky eaters before and have learned to raise the temp a little this tends to make them a little more aggressive(build up hunger)also try black or dark blue light bulbs(the fish dont know that the lights are on)thus bringing them out of hiding(as long as the room lights are dim.
