Here is a rare moment with mine I caught on camera. The elusive Loach Train...

I bought my girl 6 cl a couple weeks ago.2 sleep on their sides belly to belly in a floating log.another sleeps in a tiny hole in the log on his side.the remaining 3 all cuddle together between some rocks. Sometimes back to back n belly to belly.clown loaches are clowns!

I've had a Clown loach, botia striata, and YoYo loach. All are/were very entertaining doing their little dances in front of the glass for food or just attention. I love watching them follow the other fish in the tank around. As much as they are schooling fish, I've always kept them singly with other species and they always pair up with other fish. Or in the case of my YoYo, he sometimes demands all the food to himself, keeping other fish at a distance. The Clown loach I kept paired up with 2 Shubunkin goldfish and could always be found with them. He was my first loach and the one that showed me how much fun they are to watch.

I've found all my loaches sleeping upside down, on their side or wedged into something. They are so fun to watch, even if not in a school. I just got the 2" Striata today and put him/her in with my 5" chocolate cichlid and the loach is trying to follow the cichlid around to pair up (gonna keep an eye for nipping, or the chocolate trying to eat the little loach). But for a 2" fish, he shows NO fear of a 5" fish which could potentially eat him. He's all over the tank checking out things.

Unfortunately, due to my last computer frying, I only have pictures of my YoYo loach, which I've many times lifted from under rocks thinking he was stuck or dead, just to find he was sleeping-

These are great!
I have 3 polka dot loaches in my 20 gallon along with 7 tiger barbs and a grumpy red tail shark named Oswald.
Oswald does not particularly care for tiger barbs. He rarely bothers, but if they mess with his food he will chase them off for a bit and retreat back to his den.
I was worried about the loaches with the grumpy old man, but recently have noticed they are fast becoming great friends! They all share his cave now, and they look very cute. The loaches will try to get him to loachy dance in the evening, it's like children trying to drag their grumpy grandpa outside to play!

I love the loachy dance... I had a great video on my old phone with 2 of my juvie polkadot loaches spinning like crazy nose-to-tail. They went for a good 5 minutes at maybe 100rpm. I did nothing else for that 5 minutes!
