Still trying to sort out the fine details, but the basics are easy and effective. No grains, no lactose, no refined (and very few natural) sugars, no weird chemicals or artificial ingredients, no nitrates/nitrites/phosphates and such in the meat. Every individual does their own version! I get most of my calories from oils like monounsaturated and saturated fat from meat and vegetables (carbs from veggies, too!). My usual grocery list looks something like :
Coconut milk and nuts for breakfast.
Red peppers, two zucchini, two green apples, a few leaves of collard greens or kale, an avocado can of tuna or oysters or some turkey to spread between my two breaks at work. Occasional chunk of aged/sharp lactose free and naturalistic cheese for the fat and calcium.
Dinner is typically a bowl of meat (usually between 1-2 pounds) cooked in olive oil. I'll use ground turkey, chicken liver, beef liver, salmon or whatever other healthy meats I can find locally. About to try bone marrow, probably tonight. Still on the hunt for grass-fed organ meat like kidney, etc.
Snacks? Usually a green apple or an avocado, or an extra chug of coconut milk, maybe more almonds or some pecans. Fruit might be some berries, sometimes a mango or a whole cantaloupe. Thing is, I'm rarely hungry, so I don't often need any snacks. I also skip meals frequently if I'm not hungry. And I fast on Saturday, usually until dinner.
Then, for S+G, I take a Trader Joe's chewable adult daily tablet like I always have right before bed. That's not very primal of me, but I like them for the magnesium and other trace metals. Then, for my allergies (It works!) I take about a tablespoon of natural, local raw honey and wash it down with well water before brushing my teeth.
The results? Down to 173 pounds at 5'9" instead of 210. I can actually see my abs and I swear I'm actually getting younger. I don't miss bread usually, but I will still cheat and take a few bites of cake at birthdays. No guilt, it's a rare treat that my healthy body can handle. The goal is to reduce the amount of insulin in my bloodstream to the lowest possible level for as long as possible. A tiny bite or two is just a blip on the radar. Not worth worrying about IMO.
Anybody else succeeding with a sugar and grain-free, healthy fat diet? Or something similar?
