Shark Eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Agreed. Give him just a few days to absorb the rest of the yolk sac that he/she drew in right before hatching. Then try. Squid or salmon seems to work well for me with the pups.

great thanks,
we bought some fresh squid this evening, will try him tomorrow and see how he goes.

hey saw a youtube of some guy feeding a little bamboo shark some pellet/cube thing. looked like little red bits, searching google can't find a perpared food wondering if anyone knows what it is and if it's worth thinking about?

It was probably a gel based food. I am not the biggest fan... Just try the squid and shrimp. Chances are he will take one or the other, if not, just wait a while longer, and maybe soak the food in a SW specific food enhancer.

We tried fresh squid this evening was not a success, going to pick up some shrimp and salmon tomorrow so we have different choices for him.

Little red chunks sounds like Ocean Nutrition's shark and ray gel. It's actually pretty good stuff. I used it a lot when I was breeding coral cat sharks.

thanks for the info on the food

Unfortunately Bandit died this afternoon..
water parameters, temp, salt etc all is fine, other critters alive and kicking, no signs of any trauma to him although his belly was very soft and "squishy" feeling, not sure if that's normal for new born sharks or not?

Could have been any number of things since you don't really know how the egg was handled prior to you getting it.

Soft belly is normal for pups that were just born.
