by the way im on the west coast of florida and that shark in the picture was just short of 6ft to fork of the tail and caught about 20-30 yards from the beach. that particular fish was caught on ladyfish on a penn senator 4/0 with 50lb powerpro 6ft american wire 200lb steel leader, 10/0 circle hook 4oz egg sinker, penn senator 4/0 rod. and yes he was released right after the pictures.

We catch sharks all the time here in NC, but we have never actually targeted them. Most of the time we just put out some bait and go for whatever. In the surf we catch them on anything. Babies we catch on 2/0 hooks when we go for bluefish and spanish using cut squid, shrimp, or mullett as bait. We caught this bad boy 10 miles offshore on a cigar minnow trolling around 2.6 knots. On a side note, we caught this shark and another one within 15 minutes of each other after landing a 42 inch mahi. I believe it was from the blood running out of our bilge after the mahi was gaffed that the sharks were attracted to.

Thanks for the photos guys, so I'm guessing a 6/0 hook, because I aint going for monsters of the beach like in the 4-6 feet range. This is my first time thats why...

Also dont forget a good pair of long pliers and some punture proof gloves
