how big do the sharks in the first pic get? I'm thinking about a saltwater tank and want a shark that stays small :)

Yeah - I believe the shark in the first pic is a WHALE SHARK.

They get to be at least 40 ft in length.

The only Aquarium in the U.S. that has them is the Atlanta Aquarium in Georgia. And they have 3 of them.

Milkman407 - I am assuming you mean the 3rd picture, which shows 2 sharks? If so, those are Coral Cat sharks ( Atelomycterus marmoratus), they reach a maximum length of about 28". They are the smallest of the Sharks often available in the aquaria trade along with the Marble Cat Shark. Both need about 250 gallons as a minimum requirment. If you need any more information let me know, also if your serious about keeping Sharks and or Rays, I recommend you purchase "Aquarium Sharks and Rays" by Michael Scott, also www.sharkraycentral.com for captive care sheets on the species.

What size did you keep your lemon shark in? What happend to him? How fast did he grow? Please tell me the story.!!!!

I lost the lemon one sad night when my power went out and the system back siphoned....... My buddy still has it in his freezer lol...... I remember that shark was such a brut...... during feeding time it would randomly grab leopards and smoothhounds twice its length and swim around with it in his mouth.....

That leopard you were referring to in the photo is often called a scribbled. We see about 12-20 of those leopards with that genetic variation every year here in S. Ca.

yea..... i could of swore i coined that name but perhaps not....... you must see alot of sharks..... ever see a albino leo?

I have only seen one albino leopard in my lifetime. We caught it in either 1983 or 84. It was about 9 inches long and we gave it to Sea World San Diego. They killed it accidentally a month later.

i remember hearing one was caught 5-6yrs ago.... i think it was on display at the laguna beach aquarium....

forget it they will grow too big, the chula vista vista nature center (a wildlife center by where i live) has a 2500 gallon salt tank, its jsut enough to house these guys, unless you can afford the tanks, its systems, and the utilities, throw that idea out the window.

wow i cant wait till i can set up a shark tank
