You can pick off fungused (sp) eggs with a long stick, but I don't recommend it. The first batch usually fails, as stated, the parents will get more experienced and learn how to better care for their eggs. You'll see higher and higher success rates.
What I would worry about now though, is the male killing the female. The male will want to breed as soon as fry/eggs are gone, however, the female will not yet be ready to breed. Have a divider ready...
