Shell Dweller "Nano" Setup

Seriously? L Brevis is on the receipt and I got them from a reputable shop (really the only ones that had shellies around me). I thought it looked like a multie, but I am not an expert.

Well, I think 2 pairs should still work in a 10g, but now I have to read up on multies since I planned for brevis. To the untrained eye, they do look similar, but obviously different.

Yes that's a Neolamprologus multifasciatus. The Brevis will do fine in the 10 gallon. I just found a cichlid breeder by my town, which is awesome! He has Multies, but then I called him and he also has Gold Ocellatus fry and he said if you're going to go with shell-dwellers. The Ocellatus is awesome!

Are you going to stick with them? Have you asked if his supplier has Brevis? I am sure you could take them back and definitely show him that they're not Brevis.

If the Brevis and Multies are priced similarly where you purchased them, then I would just consider keeping the Multies if I were you (provided you like them, of course). Multies are great little fish with a big personality, constantly quarreling with one another, moving sand, and they breed like rabbits too. I don't think you will end up disappointed with them.
