Hello everyone,
I'm starting back up with my breeding projects again and this time I will be focusing on creating a short body Super Red Dragon line. I will be selecting for intense red color, short square body, perfect flowerline, stronger caudal peduncle and a large very symmetrically round kok.
I will also be selecting for pearling on body as well as the Lightning through the firestorm effect of pearling running through a red Lychee kok as I did with the first generation Shinto Dragons.
I will be line breeding these fish for many generations until I get a stable strain that will show the major characteristics I'm breeding for. It will be a success when I can get 25% of my offspring to show the features I'm looking for. I expect to get some decent results after 5 generations and should be decently stabilized as a strain after 10+ generations.
I will do my best not to out rose as this will add too much genetic variation and put me back at square 1. But, if anyone out there has an exceptional male or female with the features I'm looking for, I'm open to reconsideration as I am just getting started on this project. Pictures to come.
Simon
