Lakefishex from Aquabid did it again and I can't believe how lucky I am to have received this future male masterpiece. It appears to have some authentic Golden Monkey in its genotype based on its phenotype.
What makes this male a masterpiece in my eyes is that it has perfect body proportions and nice wrapped fins for a Zz. It has a high, short body and the caudal fin is not the droopy type. It also has a golden base color with pearl overlay with blue pearl streaks extending into all of the fins.
Perhaps the best attribute of this male is the white pearling all over the body with pearls wrapping the Lychee red head. You can see the red lychee kok has pearls wrapped all around. This male even has white pearl dots in the center of the red scales on his head that I have never seen or noticed before.
This male has the lumpy bulging scales on the back of his kok that indicate he will have an up kok when he gets bigger. Although he is not showing a kok now, he is still young and has the large thick body phenotype I've been searching for in my breeding program.
The female also has a high, short body and both fish were selected for strong caudal peduncle because I hate droopy tales when Flowerhorns get to about 1.5 years old. Both breeders are approx 5 inches body length, 6 inches including fins.
I am forced to breed this male at such a young stage because I will be back crossing the best female from the F1 back to the father so I can set his traits more.
This will be approximately my 50th flowerhorn spawning which includes the 10 years I was working on the first generation of Shinto Dragons back on FlowerhornUSA.
Big thanks to Lakefishex for always supplying me with top notch fish and to Julie Tran for being the best transhipper around. Also big shout out to bro Sonny, Jet, Castrol, Japro, IndoZz team, Rarefish and all the others that have helped me over the past 15 years in breeding these beautiful fish. Pics to follow.
