Shinto Dragon 2.0 breeding project

Thanks,

Every male ZZ I've bred has been fertile, sometimes they just need to mature a bit more or you may need to condition them with market shrimp and high quality food. For agressive females, using a much larger male is usually advantageous. Good luck with your breeding.

Wow that first male is so brightly colored and the second has such insane pearling. Excellent choice of females as well you should have an awesome turn out.

Yeah I bred flowerhorns so I know many tricks and stuff. I even waited until the male even got bigger and nothing the eggs always turned into fungus. The male was triple her size and beat the living crap out of her at times. I would divide them but right after she would lay he would take a beating on her and I'd catch it early though.

Breeding is a no more for me getting out of the FH breeding status just enjoying them. I do have a Male water kok fader kamfa that bred with my female midas in a community tank. They did it once and that was that lol

Well, I woke up this morning to a plate full of eggs but unfortunately the spawning was very rough and it appears my male get scaled on both sides of his body. I've had pairs do this before but I feel this is one of the best quality males I've ever owned and need to do my best to keep him alive to breed back with the best female offspring from this spawning. Here's a pic of the eggs.

I just want to also mention that I just received this male in the mail about two weeks ago so I did not properly condition him with good foods and he very likely shot blanks during spawning yesterday. I'll keep everyone updated.

Looks like this spawn was a failure. Most of the eggs turned white, I'm going to leave it for another day just in case. I'm going to let this male mature a bit more before I put him with the female again.

If I remember correctly, bro Sonny, master of the Golden Monkey said that the GM strain takes a bit longer to mature than ZZ. I believe there may be some distant Golden Monkey genes giving this fish its square body and contributing a bit to its fins. I'll keep everyone updated on this project.

My male is almost completely healed from the first attempt at breeding with my kokky female.
