You should have waited until the fish arrived to see if they survived before posting an inflammatory thread about a trusted vendor. have patience young paduwan.....

right, I am not blaming jeff, I know it is the shipping system, they arrived more than a day late, I am not blaming anyone really, its hard to guarantee something like this right? The 7th fish is getting worse not better so I am going to loose it too. All fish gone.
Bob

yeah i dont know why so many people jumped the gun and accused the OP of bad-mouthing Rapps. apparently people dont read too well these days. if it were me, i would have posted a thread just like this.

anyways, thats sucks man, sorry to hear that. hopefully you can get things worked out with Jeff or the shipper...

Hi Bob. Wow.
I got your message and emails, but also rec'd several emails asking for me to address this thread you've started.
Personally, I would have kept the conversation between you and me. I've assured you that I was aware of the delay and communicated with you and FedEx right along. All I asked is that you contact me upon arrival of the package.

I'll share my reply to you on this thread as this has been made a public concern.

I've spoked with my sales agent at FedEx regarding your delayed package and she is awaiting documentation to assess the losses.
I will continue to remain in personal communication with you via phone and email as we have already been.

I am very sorry that you've had to deal with the delay. This was anything BUT a normal shipment. Sounds like the box spent extensive time outside of a warehouse. The fish are certainly packed with enough oxygen to survive a 2nd day in transit. However, a 36 hour rated heat pack will not effectively heat the fish in the box if it remains in 30 something degree temps overnight.

* Quick side note regarding extreme delays in shipping. I've experienced some extraordinary delays regarding fish in transit. I was on my way to JFK the morning of 9/11 to pick up an import. Not even getting into the tragedy I and millions of others witnessed that morning. The next time I was able to access the airport to retrieve that shipment was 4 days later. All in all, the fish did very well.
This one takes the cake - This past spring I shipped several boxes of adult C. Am. cichlids to a business in Tel Aviv, Israel. Due to improper documention to retrieve the fish on their end and a subsequent religious holiday week, the poor fish were packed in bags for 14 days before finally being cleared and rescued from hell in a bag! Talk about the worst 2 weeks of their lives! Only one fish was lost in that entire shipment. *

I hope that it has not caused you too great an inconvenience. I want to thank you for keeping on top of it and I appreciate your concern regarding the welfare of the fish.
I will be sure to keep you informed of any and all communications between FedEx representatives and myself regarding this order.

Regarding folks' questions or concerns about shipping with UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc...

I have contracts with UPS and FedEx where it is clearly stated that they will be handling shipments of live tropical fish from my business.
Each carrier has tested sample boxes and approved my packing methods.
Both carriers are on daily pick up schedule, so they each pick up packages from my facility each day.
I do not ship with USPS. I have nothing against their service or ability to transport a package. However, I have literally no time to personally transport packages to the Post Office.

THATS WHY ALLOT OF US COME BACK TO YOU JEFF!!TOP-NOTCH AND MOST OF ALL PROFESSIONAL!!!:headbang2

That was my first experience hearing from Jeff. Very Professional, Great Job man!

Brcacti - Please keep us up to speed on your fish.

Good Luck Brother

I am very sorry you lost your fish. Sometimes Murph'y law takes over despite our best intentions.

On a brighter note its good to know that a trusted vendor will publically address any and all concerns brought to his attention. Though I have never order fish in this manner I would be more comfortable doing it with this type of professional business man.

As I have already said I dont blame anyone, well fed ex could have done a better job sure but this is the risk we take unfortunetaly I was the unlucky one this time, so many do make it obviously. I will take this opportunity to say the fish looked like they were extremely healthy specimens and beautiful but just could not take the transport conditions they were under, dont know exactly what that was though.

Same thing happened to me with Fedex my shipment came in a day late and nothing made it ,like Jeff said they were sitting in a cargo hold in 30 degree weather and they did nothing to save the fish when I spoke to a supervisor she informed me that they are not going to unpack a cargo hold for any circumstances I was even willing to drive to Memphis to pick them up and she said it was useless, never got my money or shipping back from them,I have also received alot of shipments with them without any problems it seems like they have a hard time dealing with snow, sleet, ice.

Since OP received his fish and him and Jeff are in contact I'm closing this thread.
