I just got off the phone with the guy and he wanted to charge me 112 dollars to ship to colorado. He is a very nice guy with some awesome fish but that seems pretty steep for shipping.

It is expensive but he packs the fish very well....Try and do a group buy in your area if you can find some people, it will be cheaper for everyone.

I work at a place where we ship out items all the time. Most people are shocked at how much a next day air order costs to ship out. Consider too the shipping probably includes all the materials to keep your fish safe. So $112 does not sound that bad to me, but again I ship items out all the time and Ive seen what the going rates are.

yeah his shipping is high but you get what you pay for with rapps. the finest quality.

You know hes a vendor on MFK right? and has a telephone?

Heres his vendor forum: TangledUpInCichlids

Its probably best to PM him or call him to discuss his shipping rates with him and get your answers straight from the horses mouth.

Sounds like the OP spoke with Jeff and got a shipping quote...which the OP didn't like.

Cross-country next day air shipping is expensive. And water is heavy.

Alot of it depends on where you are. Cross country overnight shipping isnt cheap. Also keep in mind the time of year. Its at or below freezing across most of the country. There is a little extra care needed to insure your fish dont freeze to death in transit.

Well let me just say that I don't buy fish from the area local fish stores anymore, there is just nothing I want. That being said when I go to order fish from Rapps I know up front that its going to cost me more but When I want a particular fish I am willing to pay that shipping cost because it beats the fish and the quality that I find in my area fish shops so its worth it to me. Yes it can be expensive and I had no idea you were in Colorado. I live in Denver and we could go in together on an order and save about $50 each. We should at least meet up sometime to discuss it.

I dont know if Jeff does airport to airport but might not hurt to ask, I have not done Colorado but coast to coast is about $1.00-$1.25 per pound plus whatever he (Jeff) charges for styros and heat packs.
