HEY i wanted to know how many african pikes have to be in a group to shoal, and how many i could stock in my 180gal. I plan on setting up this tank asap so i need oppinions on this issue, plus i need to order these odoe's:popcorn:

I wouldn't trust a 180 to house them for life..... Mine look a lil unhappy in a 300 gallon. A 180 will work for a growout but I'd definetly plan to move them to something bigger, especially given thier skiddish nature.

I have 4.... ZERO issues whatsoever.... I had the group split up for a while when I first got them and had no issues keeping just a pair together. They stuck by eachother most of the time.

I feel sorry for that fish......

People are kept in cells that are 6 by 8 and they are "fine" too.... But not happy.

Some people try to keep thier fish happy. Others keep fish to make themselves happy.

It's no wonder these things die prematurely in captivity.....

Good luck......

They Max out at around 16" so make sure your tank footprint can support that size. If they're not the same size, the smaller ones will get picked on. DB Junkie's experience with them is the exception not the rule. In a 180 I'd stick to having just one.

Show me one that quit growing after 12 inches WHEN housed properly.....
