This is it . He took the shield to a historian and the guys says it is authentic so... most likely is.

He finds a lot of this stuff at antique shops and so on. the shield was 900 rand. so about 60 USD

i'd pay that for a quality looking one made today let alone 600 years ago

he gets a load of good steals around the place. One antique shop has a pair of swords owned by a japanese admiral, not sure of year, for 1500 usd
