I currently have a 36" single bulb fish florescent light on my 160 (55x27x35 ) and since I have bottom fish the bottom doesn't light up so well since the tank is so tall. So I was thinking a cheap way to light it would be this I don't exactly know how to mount it in my canopy for my currrent one I took the light out of the plastic drilled a hole in the middle of the light and screwed the fixure to the middle of my tank it's around 8" of the water. I have a euro brace tank so I could just lay the 48" light On top and I'd have 2" on each side to hold it up but it wouldn't look so well http://m.homedepot.com/p/Lithonia-L...ght-T8-Strip-Fluorescent-1242ZG-RE/202052422/

THAT SHOULD WORK WELL

Hang inside your canopy with some eye-screws and the supplied chain.

I have that very shop light on my 210 29" deep. Plenty of light and I do a coralife 50/50 bulb and a 8000k bulb. At least I think it's an 8000k. I"ll get some pics up when I feel like get off my back geez.

I was using three 2-bulb shop lights (4ft) on my 240 but the ends of the tank were too dark so I borrowed two 4-bulb commercial fixtures from a friend. They're 48x24'' so they fit perfectly on the top and provide tons of light with 2 actinic bulbs, 2 powerglo (not sure how many kelvins but its the purplish kind) and 4 daylight. I would add a few more actinic/powerglo but the fixtures wont fit in the canopy I'm building so I'm either gonna go with LEDs or a pair of 6-bulb t5 fixtures I found on Amazon that are 47'' long instead of 48. Here's a few pics to compare.

As you can see I've been battling a cyanobacteria problem since adding the new fixtures but I'm pretty positive it's due to poor circulation and not the lights because it's worse in the middle where there's less flow

I ended up buying the 4x2 light. I ended up going with 2 6500k bulbs. It looks much better. Is 6500k the highest these strips can take? I couldn't find any higher. Ill be honest I have no clue what any of it means lol. I just hung it in my canopy its super tight but it works. Keep the picks comming with what lights you use!
