woah that looks like its spine has been broken does he swim like that all the time? thats tight.
he looks like an archer fish in some sort of a way. u may be fine but from my expeirence i had a pack of cichlas with a shortbody and the pack killed the shortbody cuz it was smaller and slower then the rest.
It definitely has a problem. Whether it was born that way or sustained an injury while very young I cannot tell. It'll be interesting to see how well it competes with the healthy Cichla as it grows. I'm guessing that in the wild it would never make it to adult hood.
If it were my fish I'd sell it off to someone that likes deformed fish and use the money to get some quality specimens. Just saying...

I dont like shortbodied/deformed fish personally, not slagging it off or anything, dont wanna offend
