I believe Sterling gave her the ok to record any conversation since he is the type of person that tends to forget things he said or done. Of course, she is a gold digger. Are you telling me this pretty chick is dating that old guy that's about the same age as her grandpa for his look or his "inner-beauty"? Pleeease. She is a gold digger and won't stop. I'm pretty sure she has consulted lawyers before releasing the tape.
Sterling is a xenophobe/bigot and he has had many incidents in the past with his comments or actions. Thing is, this time, what he said involves the NBA. It's been blown out of proportion because of the shock factor of what he said especially being a NBA owner and having African Americans coaches and players on his team.

"Don't bring these kind of people at my games" or "I feed these people with my money". The NBA is 3/4 African American and is trying to be globally expand. This isn't the 70s anymore. Whatever damage is done on a team, hurts the league. The NBA is all about entertainment and money. People are refusing to buy into the Clippers, sponsors are pulling out, coaches and players are going to want out. The only way the NBA can fix this is forcing the team to sell or have Sterling giving out the apology of the century, donations to minorities all over the USA, abide to any league punishment and be a changed person (which I doubt he can't).

It's only the beginning of the Clippers boat sinking...

Its only the beginning of the United States sinking, when one is condemned in public w/o due process

innocent until proven guilty in a court of law... whats going on now in this country seems like mob mentality

yea exactly my point

And settled lawsuits likely with confidentiality clauses as part of the settlement.

well, generally speaking settlement doesn't necessarily admit guilt. just sayin,.......

a lot of times settling is the quickest way to just get it over with and move on rather than losing more money and the headache that comes with a long drawn out court battle

There is no law broken and a court of law won't help in this case. There is an ethical standard that the NBA board would have to deal with.

Im not a lawyer these are just my opinions , however what about defamation of the accused? If the NBA pursues punishment w/o proven guilt, couldn't the NBA let them selves open to a law suit by the accused?

Last night the President of the LA chapter of the NAACP said in a second statement that they would consider forgiving Donald Sterling...100% they are getting a nice fat wad of cash. Money talks!

money makes the world go round

mostly everyone has a price. i'd sell out if the price was right

if someone approached me with a cool mil tax free and the condition was pretend to come out of the closet for the rest of your life. i'd prance around all day every day in skinny jeans and pastel colored knitted sweaters for the rest of my days rolling around in my pink Bentley

It certainly is possible that payment was touched on in their initial talks...I still don't see how the wife can sue the side gal though, filing some type of charges perhaps but it seems it would have to be up to Serling himself to lodge any kind of lawsuit?

........."V. Stiviano, the woman heard in the recordings, was recently sued by the Sterling family for embezzlement.
She is a "defendant in a lawsuit brought by the Sterling family alleging that she embezzled more than $1.8 million, who told Mr. Sterling that she would 'get even,'"
Clippers president Andy Roeser said in a Saturday statement on behalf of Sterling that served as the first official response to the recordings.
A suit reportedly filed by Rochelle Sterling, wife of the team owner, in L.A. Superior Court on March 7 sheds light on the $1.8 million figure mentioned. It is the price of a duplex purchased by Donald Sterling for V. Stiviano, the Los Angeles Times reports from the filing. Sterling also gifted Stiviano with a Ferrari, two Bentleys and a Range Rover, the filing says.
The filing also states that Sterling's relationship with Stiviano began in 2010 and describes Rochelle Sterling as "a married woman seeking to protect and recover community property in her individual capacity," according to the L.A. Times."
(Supposedly, Donald Sterling had already asked for everything back)
[and from another LATimes article: "Stiviano’s name.. is on the grant deed for the duplex,....
If Rochelle Sterling ends up divorcing her husband, she can certainly claim that he owes her half of the money he spent on Stiviano if it she can demonstrate it came out of communal funds, according to a family law attorney with whom I consulted."]

Stiviano on the right. seems like her expression & demeanor convey "getting even", rather than a fun social pose ;)
