Should I breed convicts to feed off fry

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A 20 long would be great as well. He may not be eating the guppies due to the fact that they prefer to swim in the top portion of the tank and he may be uncomfortable going up to catch them as he is new. Convicts will head strait down when you introduce them to the tank, so that will be a plus. Although it is possible he has a disease or other illness making him not decide to eat?

Im breeding cons now for my rd. Im mainly doing it for fun + no more feeder fish even though I get 30 feeders for $4 AUD I want to breed some cons :D

Not really sure what happened, went into the fish room about 7:45 and he was doing fine, swimming around... came back in at 9 and he was dead.:WHOA: going to head to the LFS in the morning and see if they will do anything about it.:nilly:

im gonna do a similar project honestly ive seen a member of this site do it in a 10 gallon im not saying any names.....largemouthbadbass! ha but he is using them for feeders im gonna do the same thing soon my pike only likes live hense why i now have 1 keyhole cichlid instead of 5 and no more iridecent shark.

well im going today to try and find a pair of convicts, how large do they need to be for breeding? heres a big question, one of my male Mbuna has a tumor on his lip, what do i do to treat that? or should i just uthinize him before it spreads to another fish? can it spread? is it a type of fish cancer:nilly:

sorry about your loss... what works for me, and you might want to try next time if you get another is have a mid level fish that eats live prey and what not in the tank as well, that way when the midlevel fish swims after the prey and misses the feeder will either shoot for the bottom or top of the tank, more likely the bottom if it thinks it has a place to hide there. I had my knife in a pvc pipe, and the feeders would go in there to hide from the oscar, thus making it easy for the knife.

well that seems like a pretty good plan, I got a pair of breeding convicts today for 13bucks, one if a big pink one (the female) and the male is a regular black one, bout half her size. the tank they where in was full of fry, is there any chance i could add an additional female convict, making it two females to one convict?

sorry about asking the same question, just a little different.I just looked at the "overstocked" tank pics, Ive got a penguin350, aquaclear 110 and fluval404 on my 55. how many Mbuna will it take to "overstock" it
