Should I Buy This 8" EBJD???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Could work but could be bad. No way to know for sure everyone is differant. Try it out and hope for the best just be ready to move fish around if you have to.

First of all, great looking ebjd, and $100 for an 8" ebjd is a steal! Whether he will tolerate other jds (of any kind) in his tank depends on his temperament. Ebjds are often very mellow, but some act just like "normals". Good luck, and definitely consider breeding him (or her; hard to tell with ebjds)!

I would give it a try but keep a close eye. At 8" I'd give him the same respect as any dempsey and choose his tankmates accordingly. Where did you find this fish? He's truly a rarity.

Found on Craig's list some time ago and passed the selller's requirements for rehoming him --tank size, conditions, etc... :WHOA:

i'd easily pay 200 or more for that fish. But its definitely older than 2 years. Heck of a deal if you ask me.

That's a beautiful fish...

Since full adult Blue Dempseys are exceptionally rare to find for sale, it's hard to put a "fair markety value" on it... So if you want it and have the cash to spend, I would consider it a great find...

I doubt that it is "two years old", but I would believe that the current owner bought it as a very small Juvi two years ago... I have a 9" male Blue Dempsey that was 8" 2 years after I bought him (bought him at 2")...

While I have found lil Blue Dempseys to be 'mellow' compared to standard Dempseys, every full adult male I've ever owned has shown the same aggression & 'toughness' of a standard Dempsey.

That fish is nice! Will save you a few years of growing out time forsure...looks very hardy also. $100 seems fair.

to the poster who said that was not ebjd YOU NEED TO GET YOUR EYES CHECKED!!!

That in my thoughts is a stellar fish, I would drop the cash for it at a moment. From what I know of these fish that is not an easy find.

The tank is all ready for him. Final arrangements to rehome him are being made. Any thoughts on transporting this guy?

Here is a pic of the tank he will go in..... The Clown Loaches are out of sight as usuall. They are still spooked from their move into it three weeks ago.
