Should I feed Senegal Bichirs bloodworms?

That video was crazy. Also do the Hikari Canivore pellets break apart easy? Looks like they come in one size don't want them to choke on it if its too big.
Yeah the carnivore pellets should be perfect for a 5" poly, if it has a hard time you can easily break them in half

Has anyone ever attempted to keep poly's with any kind of Crayfish in a larger tank (5 ft or more) with plenty of hides? I don't imagine it would end well but I am curious if it can work. I just ordered some Hikari carnivore pellets. Thanks for the advise on that one. At what size do you guys normally move your poly's into tanks 5 ft or larger? They are in a 2-3 ft cube shaped tank at the moment. Was thinking in an inch or two might move around some things and get them in my 5 ft. My 5 ft contains a mix of semi aggressive to aggressive juvenile american cichlids, a sizeable ghost knife fish and 3 Australian Red Claw Yabby's (I will probably move the Yabby's) when I put the poly's in.

not crayfish but I have with very large prawns (currently have 3 in the tank) the key is not to let the bichir to small to be prey or vice versa

None of the crayfish available grow to a good size, they're all either too big and will eat other fish or too small and will get eaten.

Australian Redclaw grow 12 inches. They are fairly chilled compared to other species of crayfish when keeping them with fish.

your polys look good! you could move them anytime at 5 inches they probably wont grow real fast from now on out. Id be worried with the yabbies? I know you said they are chill but Ive seen large crayfish do some pretty bad things. What kind of cichlids do you have? 5" poly wont be a meal will it?

I am going to move the Crayfish out to another tank when I move the polys to the 5 ft don't want to chance it. I keep the following juvenile cichlids: jack dempsy, firemouth, flowerhorn, jaguar cichlid, salvani, green terror, robertsoni, 8 to 10 inch ghost knife fish. This isn't a long term configuration but for now they are all small the largest is the robertsoni. As they mature and if they get too aggressive I will change the tank configuration as needed.

Do Senegal Bichirs have a slow growth rate once they are around 5 inches?

Sens are probably one of the slower growing polys. They shoot up pretty quick from when they are little wormlets until the hit the 5-8 mark usually around 6 months and then start to slow down. It all depends on who has them, how much food they get, environment. Its that way with them all, I saw two delz yesterday at lfs and he said supplier guessed them at around a year old they were 6 inches. I have 2 delz and one is about a year the other is around 7 months and the year old is 10" the 7 month is 8-9". I'm totally guessing at age that's how long ive had them and they both still had external gills when I got them so they were young.
