i like scarlets a lot, but you can get hit or miss on the colouring of them

Very true, I'm not a huge fan of them though. I just would like to add some color to the tank. My other thought was Megalancistrus sp. or A. Hystrix.

lol hystrix for colour?! an adult goldie might be nice if your going for lots of colour as apposed to subtlety

I am thinking also of L039, L090b, L094, L113, L152... to name a few. I have begun considering many plecos for my big tank.
