If things get tight for me I was thinking of killing my daughter. She eats way more than my fish do. She'd probably pull a decent dollar on the black market, but I'd hate to have someone make a dollar on her, so I'll just kill her.

ASIDE from this OP, I just don't believe that many prolific breeders can honestly say they have never put fish down due to circumstantial reasons, and have only done it for health problems.
There are also predictable deaths by aggressive breeding fish, and with regular tank mates. We all knowingly purchase the babies after who-knows-how-many mating deaths. I will- and with gratitude!
Some standards about fish deaths are not consistent at all. What about going fishing?! Seems like all the outrage is about this guys' thoughts (because he is honest & most people aren't), not really the physical result. There is an entire forum about FISHING on this site. good grief.
That said, him posting this here was socially masochistic. Anyone could've told him he'd be chewed to bits.
Mods, close this thread when you do the fishing forum.
Kill all people who are too open. LOL. sometimes this place is sooo funny.
Definitely take prozac before posting on your worst day.

People who catch fish and kill them, kill them to eat them. Not because they took on a responsibility as an owner and want to cop out.

I could see if he lived on the moon and there were nobody to care for the fish, but there seems to be plenty of people to take them, and pay money. Seems like a win-win for everybody, seeing as he lost his job. Sell them for what you can get. You get money which you need, buyer gets fish which he wants, and you MIGHT make a friend out of it too. Easy.

So you would rather kill an innocent creature then see some one else profit off them? This is greed at the highest level, selfishness at the highest level, they don't even have a word for what you are.

i agree totally. I knew a roommate like that. He let his doviis killed all his fish rather than give them away because he paid money for them
