Putting it in the freezer put the fish down in less than a minute.

No it doesn't. There's been instances where fish appear dead or "asleep" after a few minutes in the freezer and start responding again after being put back in warm water... or flushed, where they suffer a horrible death swimming in sewage. The correct way is to leave the water in the freezer until it's almost frozen, then pull the fish from the warm tank and drop it in the ice water, the sudden drop in temperature will kill it instantly.

I'm not even sure that works.... The other day I was moving a 2" firemouth to its new hoem the dang fish jumped out the net and landed in a cup of water that was filled with about 8 pieces of ice I thought it would die but its still going strong..... It was really random I had the cup on the side of the tank and the fish landed right in the middle and was inn there for about 4-5 seconds.... I have actually thougt mayb wacking it inn the head will kill it faster? It's an instant death.. idk if that works... I don;t plan on trying at all though...
Anyways this thread is really old lol....

I've found Clove Oil to work the best. Just net the fish, place the fish in a small amount of tank water, usually just enough where the fish can still move around, take a teaspoon and fill with the clove oil and add to a cup of tank water and shake vigourously for a minute then pour it into the small bucket with the fish. This should knock the fish our instantly, then take the teaspoon and add more clove oil(about 3 teaspoons) to a another cup of tank water and a cup of vodka and this will kill the fish while its still asleep. Works for me.
