Should I sell my Dovii's?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He looks great! But im shocked hes still shy at 1year and 10'' my guy came out of the shy spell at about 6'' and now is 10 or 11'' and a complete nut.
That is what was making me consider parting with him. But it's not even that I want him to go nuts I would like a little more interaction! We will see I will definitely hang on to him and see them spawn, I will keep you guys posTed, thanks for making my decision easy :-)

He is one good looking Dovii.I would hold onto to him if I was you. Something that has worked for me with shy fish is to cut way back on their food.I would withhold food for a day or so untill he starts coming out showing interest in food. Then when you do feed them only give them about half of what you normally give them.A hungry fish is an active fish. Also start sitting in front of his tank and slowly put your hand up to the glass and then slowly pulling it away. Keep repeating this for 5 or 10 minutes a day and with a little patience you will see he will become curious of your hand and before long he will greet you when come up to the tank. These things have worked really well for me when dealing with shy cichlids. Good luck with him

Yes he is beautiful, I have decided to keep him. Its like he knew I had been thinking of getting rid of him, cause he is alot more friendly now like a differnt fish, he chases my boston terrier and follows me around.

Personally, I would keep if it was my 2nd or 3rd tank. But if it is your only one, why lose the fun of having some variations? Just being honest here. All the Dovii pair owners I know is there 2nd -5th tank. Just an IMO!

Fish has already come around, he didn't like any cats or dogs as soon as they come in the room he paces back and forth and tries to bite them lol
