Best comment from the second link

Mainstream media just keeps repeating the same story with the same images. The smiling faces of the heroic professionals bravely fighting for their lives, how they deserve the very best care possible, look at the brave victim walking out of the ambulance with his own team of heroes. At the end of the day, it's a PR stunt at a risk that defies all common sense.

No real disappointment. Apparently it is airborne with pigs and not observed with nonhuman primates even though viruses are detected in saliva and nasal secretions; but unfortunately I don't think the primate to primate tests are conducted to the fullest extent since the monkeys are euthanized.

So take away from this is don't go near pigs, and I for one still would not want an Ebola patient to sneeze near me.

anybody wonder why the press wasn't allowed close ups of the arrival of the infected doctor ? why they had to resort to helicopter shots of his arrival? ya think that the security y'all were so worried about & couldn't see on the tape might have been so tight that that's THE ONLY way they could get pictures? that's the common sense bet..... to expound on that, the "anything can happen " thinkers mistakenly think it's 50/50 on anything can happen... well it's not ,it's a serious long shot , you are willing to let your imagination +the press talk you into thinking there is a "real" chance of an outbreak from this doctors return home .... when in reality , about the only chance of something happening is someone from that region that is infected and UNDIAGNOSED coming to the US...... how you gonna stop that.?..the answer is :you can't

During the second one's arrival, she was pushed about 200 feet to go into the hospital(looked like the front door). They showed at least 4 people just standing around in plain clothes. One of them was within 10 feet of her as she was being pushed in.

Yes, we have established it's very unlikely to transfer in that situation, but they are suppose to be on top of things and not be sloppy.

you think those might have been hospital workers or security.. just because dude doesn't look like Barney Fife doesn't mean he isn't "official"...most likely those "bystanders " were EXACTLY WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED to be.... once again ...did you see any close up cell phone vids ... like EVERY other news story...nope...reason? there wasn't ANYBODY besides necessary personel on site ...IF the MEDIA would have been ALLOWED they would have cameras inside the quarantine suites ,,, you gotta know that .... but believe anything you want even the ludicrous , that seems to be the common denominator in this thread.... maybe it will be space aliens that infect us ..... it's easy to discount the obvious when you want something to go wrong (so you can complain about the lousy.".fill in the blank")

The authors state twice in the article that they cannot tell if it was aerosolized, airborne, or if the pigs were coughing and spitting! The monkeys' cages were placed 8 inches away from the pigs - I think a lot of us on here have fish longer than that! Also, the monkeys stayed there 24/7, 8 inches away from coughing animals (which the article also points out are bigger shedding and aerosol producers than any other mammal), for a week before falling ill. Air samplers situated 2 feet away from the pigs ran for 30 minutes, and recovered no virus particles. Yes, it is non-direct transmission, but you cannot conclude that it is airborne, either.
