I think fish shops should issues receipts that make them liable for fish that grow aover a certain size. The receipts should state how big the tank is the customer has to put him in and it is upn to the shop to sell it to them, then if it out grows said tank, the shop has to take it back. This should curb allowing impulse and uneducated buys.

Or something like that.

I don't think they should be banned. They just shouldn't be available for 5 bucks.

WONDERFUL! I couldn’t agree more…

Education is a great answer… for the few people who care…

Regulation with strict punishments… is the way to make people care…

Banning freedoms… is the gateway to communism…

Thats true...didn't think of that, but I doubt it is because of their size. It's because they are dangerous.
its probably about evironmental damage. the states i know that banned them are warm water states. although cali kinda is a ban everything type of state

i don't know about this poll, irresponsible fish keepers poll this might be.

Come on! This is MONSTERfishkeepers, we don´t need bans, we keep whatever fish we want because we know how to take proper care for ALL fish.

your point kinda lost on me as your a fish keeper too.

and there are people that do that, usually from agoraphobia.

I would say banning a fish is a bit of an extreme reaction!

Perhaps a license to keep? This will control the amount of people who are actually able to keep these fish. At the end of the day if you can provide your fish with a suitable home there is no need to ban them.

Actually teaching staff at shops, actually educating the public on what fish they are buying is the answer.

Its not only Pacus that get the short end... look how many O's suffer 10g tanks.

Something as simple as a pamphlet being available to shoppers would do a world of difference. A brief explanation to each fish being sold so they know what to expect.

What?!?!

But this would reduce sales?...

It's one thing to care, but at the cost of company profit?...

(please read acknowledging my friendly smile and tone of sarcasm ;) )
