i was just wondering if anyone kept them or knew about them in captivity?

Except for this one which might just be the best species for captive conditions for someone that really wanted to devote space and attention to one. They average around 25 to 30 inches and are not as touchy about water quality or temperature as most others are.
 
meepster i think tour right but i was just wondering because shortnose only get like five pounds but yeah i dont think id keep one though

I've actually got one growing up in my "prehistoric" tropical tank as we speak :) Dunno if it's really a Shovelnose, there are a number of Acipenser hybrids floating around on the market. There's an even smaller genus from Russia, Pseudoscaphirhynchus which I'd love to get my hands on, but they are rather endangered lol. Anyways;

check out the shovelnose there not endangered but they are still a little on the comeback so im leaving them alon for awhile

Thanks! Not the shovelnose, the dwarf russian sturgeon is the endangered one.
 
That's a cool looking tank, I was just talking about setting up a native fossil fish pond after I win the lottery and get the land to dig it on. What all do you have in there?
