Will update with what I call my bad luck at getting a good pearsei, lol

Porkchop was not my first pearsei...

My first attempt was a wild caught male named 'Frank' because of it blue eyes

Frank was a wild caught and it was introduced at the same time as a wild caught Argentea. This is where I learned to NEVER add any fish to a established tank without first doing a quarantine. Whatever hell that was brought in from these two fish wiped out almost my entire tank. Lesson learned... Always quarantine new fish! This I now do.

I also at one point had a nice male (Kermit because it was very bright green) who I was thinking of breeding with my Porkchop.

This one had great color and was a male for sure. Much more aggressive to other cichlids in the tank than the female (Porkchop). Apparently Porkchop was not having any of it with sharing her tank with another pearsei, even a male, and beat on him and had him in a corner. I put him in a 65B growout and was thinking about keeping him and rehoming Porkchop. Well of all the freak accidents, this fish broke a glass thermometer and cut itself so badly it passed away. :(

Also wanted to show the awkward stage of Porkchop when she was little.
Here she is in my friends tank that I got her from, about 4"

I cant stress enough how you need to be patient for these big cichlids to fully develop. I would give it a good three years to get your Pearsei to come to full adult potential.

I love my big girl, she is so inquisitive:

Any more Pearsei pics from you guys?

Since this is a topic on Pearsei, I wanted to add this picture of the largest one Ive ever seen a picture of. Not my pic and not sure of its origin so I cant give due credit, but this one is a biggie.

Some difference in Pearsei from a different catch location, please notice "Rio Lacanjah" Pearsei with an elongated appearance.

Just though I would share this info with you guys

Bringing this one back to life to get updates from Pearsei owners.

My update, sadly in Sept of 2019 my big girl passed. She was at least ten years old and measured in at 16" at her passing. It was just age that got to her. This was the big girl.

I know J jaws7777 lost their family pet Hulk too and it was devastating. Pearsei have such a wonderful personality and just become part of the family. Im sure there are others who have posted on this thread that have likely experienced theirs aging out by this time. Please update and let us know.

Well this past week a buddy contacts me about picking up fish and he has a lead on a pearsei... and its FREE! So I agreed to taking it in and here it is.

It spent a night in a bucket at my buddy's house so it was a bit beat up but its in my 90 gallon QT getting healed up and ready to be moved into its 300 gallon home soon.

I missed the interaction that these fish have with you. This guy has only been with me since Monday July 5 and is already associating me with food and coming up front and center for feedings. Love the calm demeanor of these guys, completely new to me and the tank and zero issues of freaking out during multiple water changes now. While not as colorful as my last one, Im already attached to it because of its personality. Great to have a pearsei back in the house.

How some about updates from those who have posted before and maybe those who have acquired once since. Let's see them Pearsei!
