so your saying take the fish out of its home environment and take it somewere to show it off. if you ask me this would induce stress and lessen the fishes color and behavior. the less you mess with your fish the better they become.

thats true i know when i go get a fish it changes immediatly and dont go back to right looks sometimes for a day or 2
Fish that win shows are full grown, color up in a bare tank, have proper deportment (i.e. bang the glass if that's what they're supposed to do), and are in flawless condition.
The best way to get fish show-ready is to isolate them and baby them for a couple months prior to the show....and make sure they don't get damaged on the way.
It's a very artifical process from regular fish-keeping and breeding (unless you keep one fish per tank).
