Opinion on the fish tanks in the show tanked (in other words how tacky would you say the stuff the make is on a scale of 1-10).
Yeah Yeah, "some people have their own opinions about what looks good", "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it, blah blah blah"-this post isn't meant to be taken too seriously, ha ha.

Also, as with other garbage Animal Planet Shows, the "acting" that is supposed to be passed off as reality is just embarrassing.

All i will say is i remember there was one of the tanks from that show put on sale through craigslist i think it was...

There was a post somewhere on MFK about it...

The tanks are absolutely amazing no question. The decorations and fish are not my taste

I remember that. Funny you mention that because the latest episode was a 2nd snake/fish tank for NBA player Dwight Howard and he was the one that had the first tank they made for him up for sale a year or two ago. On the show the other day he said he had to leave the tank because he got traded. Funny thing is his new home is some $200,000,000 mansion with 20+ bathrooms and 30+ bedrooms.... Guess he couldn't afford the couple grand it would have cost to have that tank moved huh? lol

I always Tivo the show and watch it. Mainly just because it's the only show dealing with a hobby I really like so I watch it for that reason. The tanks they do are neat to watch but they are about as impractical as it gets. Some of them (most) would be a complete nite mare to attempt to do any sort of maintenance on, and I'm also not a fan of the fake corals they do or the fake pranks they try to make seem real. I still enjoy the show though.

One other thing I noticed ....Having a drinking game where you do a shot every time Brett says the word "Actually" would have you wasted halfway through the show. Seriously next time it's on count how many times he says "actually"...he must say it 50+ times each episode

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the actual acrylic tanks are pretty nice. However, almost all of the backgrounds and some of the stands look like they were gotten at ToysRus.
Sadly, that seems to be mostly what their clients want and ask for. They have the resources and know how to create some really nice naturalistic diplays which is what my money would be spent on.

Super tacky, and I remember watching one episode and seeing them stock a bunch of baby Oscars in a 1-200 gallon tank with community fish. At that moment, I knew the show was garbage.

I liked the other show better.....Fishtank Kings....as for their acting, they are not actors unless I am mistaken so I don't focus too much on that aspect of the show.
I realize the show has to be entertaining in order to reel in the ratings of a large number of viewers but the pranks and silliness gets old real fast with me.

The backgrounds get old and tacky after a while. It doesn't look 'real' enough for me.
The tanks are amazing, and no doubt I'd ask them to build me one if I had the money.
However...
I would NOT let them pick my fish. I want my tank to have fish I hand-picked. They tend to pick the same fish for each aquarium...nearly every one has some sort of tang in it (preferably a yellow tang). If I got a giant saltwater tank, I'd be looking at groupers, barracudas (if they sell those), and perhaps some sharks. I'm not super into the average colorful saltwater fish they put in the tanks (excluding Shaq's grouper tank. That had some awesome fish). No doubt, I like the show. Yes, the acting isn't great and the pranks get old, but the tanks really don't. (Except for the backgrounds. They get old, in my opinion).
