Show "Tanked"....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I remember that. Funny you mention that because the latest episode was a 2nd snake/fish tank for NBA player Dwight Howard and he was the one that had the first tank they made for him up for sale a year or two ago. On the show the other day he said he had to leave the tank because he got traded. Funny thing is his new home is some $200,000,000 mansion with 20+ bathrooms and 30+ bedrooms.... Guess he couldn't afford the couple grand it would have cost to have that tank moved huh? lol

I always Tivo the show and watch it. Mainly just because it's the only show dealing with a hobby I really like so I watch it for that reason. The tanks they do are neat to watch but they are about as impractical as it gets. Some of them (most) would be a complete nite mare to attempt to do any sort of maintenance on, and I'm also not a fan of the fake corals they do or the fake pranks they try to make seem real. I still enjoy the show though.

One other thing I noticed ....Having a drinking game where you do a shot every time Brett says the word "Actually" would have you wasted halfway through the show. Seriously next time it's on count how many times he says "actually"...he must say it 50+ times each episode

Lol, I was really hoping that Tanked was on tonight so I could play this game.

Hahaha omg my ex and I were talking about that one day, saying that if we made it a drinking game we'd be drunk before the first ad break. :D

I appreciate the craftsmanship of the tank, plumbing. I think their metal stands I'v seen all look well built along with sump and plumbing.

If I had the room like some of their celebrity clients, my focus would be on actual larger tank dimensions than all the cabinetry. That is, I feel often times that takes away from the actual acrylic tank.

Tacky background, but not everyone has time or interest for the real thing. I suppose that some could afford someone to maintain.

I think the actual tanks are good, filtration etc. But the stocking options for freshwater and the decorations they use just isn't nice at all in my opinion

I don't know, but somehow they seem to have figured out how to completely miss the point of fishkeeping from start to finish, and turned it into something for people who never should keep fish would only be mildly bored by. Nothing about the fish, their looks, their behavior, aquascape, any kind of art or science... I just don't like it.

I agree the tanks are incredible, although backgrounds are awful! Although would love to see if they could do a really realistic artifice freshwater theme with wood etc, as think nearly all ones I've seen have been tacky saltwater styles

I prefer fish tank kings too, find it more interesting and they seem to put more care into finding and putting the right fish together.

I stopped watching tanked a year or two ago. They only seem to do celebrity tanks and it's more about that person then the tank and fish. I could care less about any big name person. I just want to see beautiful tanks.
I do wish they would do more freshwater.
Their big tanks would be well suited for some great big fish. I told my husband if we were rich I'd want them to build us a tank. One I can maintain on my own, water lines and drain. The works;)
Maybe a large enclosed pond connected to the house. I'd love that!

There's a lot of people writing about how nice the tanks are, and I honesty don't get it. How are the tanks any better than any other acrylic tank? In fact, if I got to choose between a tank that had a bunch of ridiculous curves, and a standard rectangular tank, I'd choose the rectangular tank.

The tanks they make are well made, as are the stands. I'm not a fan of all the tanks they have made, but I do like their creativity in making tanks that work in a clients location. I just think the people having these tanks made don't really have a love or desire to care for fish the way people here would.
I feel like the people on the show see the tanks as a piece of furniture, not an environment they are going to be in charge of.

Total rubbish. Huge expensive tanks set up for the rich and famous who i bet 99% of the time haven't got a clue about fish tanks. All the maintainance, of which there is no mention of at all on these tanks will be done by the team at an eyewatering price no doubt. Anybody watching the show who's inspired to get a huge tank is being misled by this program because as we all know there is a lot lot more to the hobby that what they're portraying. Oh, and it dosen't help when the two guys running it are complete knobs!
