yea i wish i could afforde to insure the cars i want. we have a 328i in the garage but it has to go before december because insurance is over $4500 a year all just because im going to be a new driver in an extremely fast and fun car.

I have a project E30 sitting in the garage. Fun as hell. I didn't realize the 2.8I6 was THAT fast. I know they're quick, but it's not like their big brothers.

i also just realized i'm right handed and it'll be weird to shift with my left. we'll see though, if this deal doesn't work out, i'll try to find a real silvia (S14-15) in the u.s (no shipping) and use it strictly for the track. (no tolls), after i get some american conversions on it(spedo etc). the price he's asking for the car and the shipping is extremley reasonable for it and the mods on it. that's why i like this one, if i could find a used s15 with no mods for this price, i'd **** myself. how much in general would it cost to do something like change the spedometer to mph from kmh, on most american cars uder the mph is kmh, if this car had that but kmh first i'd be cool, but because the rest of the world abandoned the u.s and went to the metric system i highly doubt that. thanks kev:)

s15 you won't find probably.. and if you do, then not near the price of even a imported s14. Also the s15 IMO would be harder to legalize as there is no comparable model over here(since nissan never sent it here) to get emissions/crash test standards from. But there are people who now and back in the day legalized skylines without motorex or got around it somehow so who knows.

As far as the speedo thing I posted. That will be your smallest hang up probably. But I know that inspection requires your speedo to work right and read in mph. I knew a guy who had a german spec corrado and although it was lhd(germany is still lhd), he had to switch out the instrument cluster every year for inspection cause the kmh one they wouldn't let slide.

As far as cost? Search info the see if JDM/US spec mount the same way and if they do then it's easy switch in and out. If it doesnt then the most viable answer to me is buy aftermarket gauges such as autometer or whatever and make your own custom instrument cluster.

BTW if this is strictly a track/show car not to be driven on the street you don't even need to legalize it. You can have it shipped without legalizing it as long as it's not to be street driven/titled/tagged. Just trailer it there and back. It would save a ton of money as no inspections/emissions/etc too.

I know japan import cars usually are modded.. alot.. but IMO s14 with s15 front conversion and nice sr20det.. track it, drift it, whatever and still drive it on the street completely legal... ethnics has a s13, not sure if his is sr20 powered or not  but would be a person to talk to if serious about building a 240sx, and he's immediately available on this forum.

And not to continue this forever but I know a place is MD who has s13 shells for sale and I believe drift their own car if you want an old s13 shell. I had thought about building a s13/s14.5(s14 with s15 front) but holding out for another FD I think.

i id like to get a new car within the next two years

im torn between a honda civic SI coupe and a nissan frontier 4x4 crew cab with a long bed and off road capabilities.

JD_man has a new SI coupe....VERY fun car. Not the fastest thing on the road, but it gets decent mileage and is just FUN. (plus it's a honda so it'll run forever)

have you flat lined the speedo yet? i cant because my dad is always with me but if i get my licens before its gone i will go to the local speed way so i can. i have heard they go over 150 stock. i think i should invest in a cd or somthing so i can get a 335 and blow the doors off evos and supras.

I like the si coupes..

I think the decision between those two is gonna be if you really need a truck(more space with a truck but will you use it) and live close enough to everything where gas mileage isn't a huge concern..

BTW Nice truck cichla.. bet that's rare over there in the uk..
