Low 80s seems a little low for a leo. I am sure you have kept them like this for the 3 years I think you said you had your other gecko? Maybe raising the temp to low 90s if possible.

I think your tank might be a little on the cool side and as a result your geckos are more sluggish. Probably the reason they appear to be lousy hunters. ;) If your ceramic heater isn't heating your tank well, bump it up to a larger watt one.

Oh no, I have only had them for a few months now, and these are the only 2 geckos I have.
I agree the temperature is on the low side. My ceramic light bulb is 60w, yeah I need to do something about it.
I used to think the only down side for having the temperature low is that the digestion for the geckos might be slower, but it doesn't seem to be the case. But I believe in the summer the tank will definitely be much warmer because the tank is by the window and it traps heat really well when the sun is out.

Israelyang, that has to be the best leo setup I've ever seen!!!!! They look so happy in there. Those shedding pictures are cool too!!!

Thank you!
They do hunt crickets pretty well when I move them into a 5 gallon tank where I keep the crickets to feed, but in their 55 gallon the crickets have too much room to run around and they can't seem to keep up with them.

do you have the tank in front of the window? I would be careful that the suns rays don't cook the geckos.

I assume your UTH is attached to the tank? I would dig up the dirt around that area so there isn't much dirt causing the temp too low.

Thanks for the warning. It's not directly in front of the window, when the sun shines in the light hits a corner of the tank. The heating pad is attached to the tank, the dirt in the cave is actually the shallowest part of the whole tank, the geckos have taken the matter into their own hand, they have kicked and burrowed sand and rocks out of their cave, so I assume they have dugged to a perfect depth.

I have a piece of plywood I cut to go on the top of my leo cage and drilled a series of holes on one end and have the light and uth pad on the other side.My ambient temp it 80" hot side is around 90 cool side is around 75. Humidity is around 40-50% .Ill get a pic up here in a moment .

They are current ly in a 38 gallon .As you can see I have a red flood light in their .It provides them with heat and can stay on 24 hrs a day and they don't seem to mind .The temp in the cage must be good they just hang out like this all the time.
