How long did it take to fade?
My biggest male faded about 2 weeks after I got him.
I happy my newest still has his spots & bars.
Maybe your water condition is not right for you RD/Midas.
I noticed you have african cichlids in the same tank.
I hope those striped cichlids fronts & not tilapia.
You have quite a mix in that tank.

my red devil marks faded after 3 months. i have two smaller ones in the tank that still have the black markings.

the stripes are fronts ,they doing well with other fish. i have 3 dats from 5. 1 died and the other i couldnt find when i came back from holiday. but generally all the fish are doing well, they dont wanna stop eating. i have 5 gt,5 red devil,5fronts;5yellow lab,4 clown loach,3dats,3 cichlasoma nicaraguense.
at the moment i dont see much aggression from them

You have nice fish!!!
Water conditions with SA/CA cichlids & African are usually quite different.
Yes the fish will survive & do fine, but if you want to see the full potential of either it's best to meet the requirement of either.
This could also be the reason why your having a hard time trying to spawn you RD's.
IME they usually spawn when the conditions are just right.
I'm just going with what I've gathered by research, we try to mimic the condition our fish have in the wild.

I have a fader too(10"R male), I liuv seeing the whole fading process, I hope my newset doesn't fade tho.
I was told mine would fade by many, but it still has it's bars!!!

i actually wanted a full barred but cudnt find anywhere part from the 1 of the parents of mine. but way to big for tank i had. cant wait to grow out n get him another half.
