We all catch and release these fish they probably have zero impact on the enviroment they live in man made canals .

If anything they are food for native gar and bass.

The only fish I have ever seen "shove" a native bass was a grass carp by the end of canal that ran into a lake. Grass carp (non natives) were stocked by FWC .

The biggest cichlid is nothing for the native bass but again Florida stocked grass carp which are illegal to keep venture into lakes at will . I am sure they eat bass eggs.

Cichlids probably have zero impact on the natives they are limited to S.Florida and as a whole limited to canals .

Dont be a "cichlid hater" lol I am just kidding but cichlids dont bother natives in lakes, etc

Im not sure about cichlids have zero impact on the natives..more like small impacts but not serious impacts. Mayans and tilapias are not limited to the canals anymore as they are move up north as well they are found in brackish waters.

THe farther north they go.. The smaller there populations will be Tilapia have a very low cold tolerance. There were literally hunderds dead after we had "FOR US IN FORT LAUDERDALE" a serious cold snap that reached teh 30's two nights in a row. The mayans seem to be adapting better but yet I see more bass and bream this year than before.

lol yes zero was bit to extreme. However like Rob said cold stops/kills them like some type of poison. They do get cold fronts up N.Florida way colder them south.

I am going to post some pics now in exotics .As caught some adult Mayans today and the water was easily 90 degrees .

Sunfish/bass wont be found there but again your correct saying zero impact was extreme lol

lol oh man never thought shrimp would work for PB.

Did they hit as you reeled in the shrimp, in other words the shrimp was moving like a lure?

that PB would look nice in huge tank lots color on him

I actually picked up shrimp after varinus mentioned it but since had live jumbo mealworms went with those today.

Next trip taking the shrimp. I hope it will get red devils to hit but would have never thought a PB would even look at it.
I havent had PB even look at live moving earthworms.

It must give off that shrimp scent which gets them to strike .
